This is Turtlehead Peak

Turtlehead Peak

Directions from Red Rock National Park

Proceed to the Sandstone Quarry parking lot and follow the trailhead signs for the peak. Follow the wash northwards past the Calico Hills, at the end of the hills walk eastwards until you come to the was from Turtlehead and follow this up the ravine to the left of Turtlehead Peak until you arrive at the top of the ridge. The walk up to the peak from here is fairly easy although the footing is mainly loose shale and can be tricky. The climb is over 1700 feet but it is well worth the climb as the view from the top is possibly the best view of Las Vegas you can get. There is a book at the top so that you can record your climb and comment on the view.

Total climb time varies on fitness level and climbing skill but even an unskilled hiker could make the climb in less than 5 hours in total.
